Recycling of Blast Furnace and Coal Slags in Aided Phytostabilisation of Soils Highly Polluted with Heavy Metals

(1) Background: The growing demand for developing new methods of degraded land remediation is linked to the need improve soil environment, including post-industrial soils. Biological such as aided phytostabilisation technique are most common applied achieve effective remediation. This study aimed determine technical potential using novel or yet not used amendments, blast furnace slag (BFS) and coal (CS), with Dactylis glomerata L. a test plant. (2) Methods: experiment was conducted on area high concentrations Cu (761 mg/kg), Cd (23.9 Pb (13,539 mg/kg) Zn (8683 mg/kg). heavy metal content in roots above-ground parts plants determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. (3) Results: addition BFS increasing biomass yield. Cu, Cd, Pb, were higher than plants. CS induced considerable increase pH, compared control treatment. also produced greatest significant decrease following process. (4) Conclusions: In view above, use soils contaminated levels can be recommended larger-scale situ projects.
